Our Caines Head Adventure

Read this Blog from the bottom up. Trust me.
Back to the truck. This is our new truck by the way. Covered in weird pine tree dust.

A nice shot.

A quick nap on the turret platform. Sweet dreams of big American guns.

Jays. Stellar Jays.

Sadly the big American guns are no more. They tossed them into the ocean.

Just imagine a beautiful day like this, an unsuspecting Japanese ship sails around the corner... and gets shot by a huge American gun. Thats the world I want to live in.

The view from the top.

Quite possibly the most intense part of our journey. A slimy deathtrap.

A dark and scary cave.

Sandy beaches are for the weak.

Traversing the seaweed jungle.

Low tide at Resurrection Bay

Victory! Still... Tyler remains emotionless.

...Almost...

A snapshot of the soggy boots.

away off in the distance... crossing the seemingly endless ice cold delta.

When life gives you lemons... You run your ass off.

On the point

We walked out towards the ocean where we thought the river might be slightly less dangerous to cross. Tyler stands deep in thought.

A few miles into the trip we encountered a slight hicup. The bridge seemed to be mostly washed away. Notice Ashleys look of confusion and anger.

Caines Head State Park.

During WWII the U.S. had a military base out in Resurrection Bay near Seward, AK. They abandoned it after the war ended and now it is a state park that you can hike to. It was pretty sweet especially for the summers first hiking trip. It was only about five miles to the camp and another three to the old base. It wasn't intense as far as elevation gain but it was a little tricky because you have to wait for low tide in order to cross a two mile section of rocky beach that becomes impassable after tide comes in. Ashley, our buddy Tyler, and I set off on our adventure and the rest of the story is as follows...

Denali. Dam. Moose.

Back up to Denali just a week later and the ice is gone, moose are having babies and the rivers are a ragin.

These two adorable critters were right outside of our window. Don't believe me?....

Neither did Ash
That is the look of shock and just a little bit of shear terror.

Went on a walk and found a beaver dam. Precious moment anyone?

Flat Top

So... We hiked Flat Top. It is a mountain near our home town of Anchorage. Pretty awesome. It isn't super long or anything but it is pretty steep. And you may have guessed... it has a flat top. Anyways it was a good day. Took a couple of photos. You can see anchorage in the backround.

Spring Break up in Denali

So on our first tour in Denali it was still pretty cold and on the edges of the river there was still ice. I took a bunch of photos cause I was bored and Ashley was talking on the phone. They actually turned out pretty cool though. This was our first tour. Turns out our job is super awesome and easy and we are rakin in the dough. Seems almost too good to be true. Seriously when are they going to figure this out? Anyways here are some pics.
